BACKGROUND
With the advent of the 8-4-4 system of education, a number of multinational publishers divested from Kenya. The direction of educational publishing in Kenya changed drastically and this led to the incorporation of a fully indigenous company - Longhorn Kenya Ltd. At this time, publishers were faced with a new challenge of publishing quality and relevant books for use in the education system. Guided by philosophy of Quality Publishing for Growth Longhorn swiftly identified experienced educators who produced syllabus oriented quality books for both Primary, Secondary and for general market. Today, Longhorn has published over 460 publications.

RESEARCH
Extensive market research is conducted to ensure that all publications satisfy the dynamic needs of the market. Through continuous market and product research, Longhorn is poised to further diversify its list by exploring new publishing opportunities which will yield an even stronger list to cover both local and export markets.

THE FUTURE
Future prospects revolve around opportunities that have arisen as a result of developments in the education sector in East Africa. There is a new curriculum implementation process under way for both primary and secondary schools. This is coupled by increased levels of funding for textbook purchases.
